This norm is optimized for operational missions in medium and high altitudes and was established during the first missions at the Combat Wing 1 (CW-1) in Piacenza, Italy. While all Tornado were coloured until 1995 in the for the middle european theatre optimized green and black color scheme, this changed quickly after the missions over the former Yugoslavia.
